Strategic workforce planning is an organization’s process of determining employee productivity needs and outcomes as they relate to its goals. Strategic workforce planning is often implemented in times of change within the organization in order to either maintain or increase productivity.
The planning process usually involves the organizational leadership, human resources, and finance teams working together.
Strategic workforce planning also helps the organization to:
Avoid talent surpluses and shortages,
Ensure employees are operating at optimal productivity levels,
and build a pipeline rich with talent to fill open job positions.
